About
English Lounge aims to generate dialogue about art and curating between Britain and China, by presenting both well-known and emerging artists from the UK, including those from the Chinese diaspora. It is intended to create a discursive space, a critique to the notion of Britishness.
The works featured combine the aesthetic and conceptual in a range of media. Curator Katie Hill, Director of the Office of Contemporary Chinese Art, notes: 'In "English Lounge" a geo-linguistic space is created where interactions and communications take place literally, virtually and symbolically.'
